The digital energy solutions are scheduled to be installed in the first half of 2022, at the Stephen Riady Centre and the Education Resource Centre.
The National University of Singapore (NUS) will pilot SP Group’s digital solutions to improve energy efficiency standards.
This comes after SP Group has been awarded by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) a grant “to develop and implement technologies and digital solutions to push the limits of buildings’ energy efficiency standards” under the Green Buildings Innovation Cluster (GBIC) Programme.
In a release on Wednesday (16 June), BCA revealed that the digital energy solutions would be installed at two buildings in NUS’ University Town (UTown)—namely the Stephen Riady Centre and the Education Resource Centre—in the first half of 2022.
The buildings feature various categories of spatial use like teaching rooms, offices, commercial tenants and sports facilities, allowing SP to test the solutions on various areas.
The solutions comprise an online digital portal as well as an artificial intelligence (A.I.) powered mobile application tool.
The portal enables users to track the building’s aggregated electricity and water consumption, including the resulting carbon emissions, enabling them to identify ways to reduce their utilities usage and carbon footprint.
“The portal will come with advanced data analytics to assist building operators to plan and achieve more efficient building management by providing actionable recommendations on saving energy and an A.I. enabled anomaly detection function to prevent energy wastage,” said BCA.
The SP Utilities App will also feature an “At Work” function, which is aimed at enhancing the sustainability experience of occupants by providing them personalised energy data to help them better understand the consumption performance of the building.
Moreover, occupants will be encouraged to adopt green behaviour via gamification like quizzes, energy saving challenges, rewards, reminders and tips on saving energy.
