Everyone Welcome – Because everyone deserves a place to call home

Everyone Welcome – Because everyone deserves a place to call home
Everyone Welcome – Because everyone deserves a place to call home

At PropertyGuru, we believe your property journey should not be limited by your race, gender, sexual orientation or religion.

Yet for some renters in Singapore, the search for a home can still come with unnecessary challenges. A YouGov survey of 1,500 Singaporeans found that close to 1 in 4 have faced racial discrimination when trying to rent a property.

While we celebrate multiculturism in Singapore, unconscious biases still influence the rental experience, often putting renters, landlords and property agents alike in uncomfortable situations.

That’s why we introduced the ‘Everyone Welcome’ filter.
A simple feature for a strong impact:

✅ To help renters search for homes with confidence
✅ To help landlords attract more interest from renters looking for welcoming homes
✅ To help agents more effectively match renters to landlords

❤️ Because everyone deserves to feel at home

Though we may look, sound, or live differently, we all long for the same thing:
A place to feel safe. To rest. To be ourselves.

Real voices. Honest stories. A call for more inclusion

We know words alone can’t capture what it feels like to be turned away just for being who you are. That’s why we’ve teamed up with storytellers who bring these tough moments to light with empathy, honesty, and sometimes a little humour.

📽️ “An agents quest for fairness in rental housing” with RICE Media

<Coming soon on 1 July>

This documentary follows a minority renter navigating repeated rejections in her search for a home. Alongside her, a property agent witnesses the real-time challenges renters can face from overt discrimination to more subtle forms of biases.

Rather than pointing fingers, this documentary takes an empathetic look at Singapore’s rental ecosystem. It explores the complex mix of personal experiences, cultural norms, and perceptions that shape rental decisions and shows how understanding, action, and allyship can move us toward a more inclusive market.

💚 Together, let’s build a more inclusive rental market

Whether you’re renting or just browsing, turn on the Everyone Welcome filter. Support inclusive listings and be part of a movement that says everyone belongs.

Elderly care in Taiwan

Elderly care is a big topic. Come next year Singapore will attain its super aged status, with 20 percent of citizens aged 65 or older. Some readers sent me questions after reading my last blog post “Overseas retirement – what you don’t know”. They are interested to know the possibilities of retiring in foreign countries.... [read more]

Building with Purpose: Wing Tai Partners with Pathlight School to Showcase Student Art at River Green

Wing Tai Asia (“Wing Tai”) and Pathlight School are delighted to announce their collaboration on a community art initiative at River Green, Wing Tai’s upcoming residential development in the vibrant River Valley area.

This unique initiative will transform the hoardings around the construction site of River Green into a vibrant, sprawling community art canvas, showcasing the talent and creativity of the Pathlight School students. This is the school’s first partnership with a real estate developer to feature its students’ artworks on such a platform and scale.

The collaboration will take the form of an art competition targeted at secondary school and vocational track students of Pathlight School. Launched in early April, it also happens to coincide with Autism Awareness Month. Winning and selected artworks will be adapted and featured on River Green’s hoardings spanning approximately 200 metres, along Kim Seng Linear Park, for the next three years. Additionally, these artworks will be showcased on River Green’s website,
with full acknowledgment and recognition given to the students alongside their featured artwork.

Artwork entries will revolve around five themes to capture the spirit and essence of River Green’s surroundings, namely:

  1. Singapore River – Past, Present, Future
  2. Flora and Fauna along Singapore River
  3. Community and Wellness along Singapore River
  4. Vibrancy of River Valley and Singapore River
  5. Architecture and Heritage along Singapore River

The winners of the competition and selected artworks are expected to be announced in July 2025.

Mr Edmund Cheng, Deputy Chairman, Wing Tai Holdings Limited, says, “Art has always been a defining element of Wing Tai’s developments, serving to connect and enrich the community while enhancing the environment. While hoardings typically function as safety and noise barriers, we are excited to transform our hoardings into a vibrant canvas featuring artworks inspired by the River Valley and Singapore River precincts. This initiative offers a unique opportunity to engage with the local community and celebrate the creativity and talent of young budding artists at
Pathlight School. We are confident that their work will bring joy and spark curiosity among residents and passersby, creating a shared space for all to experience and appreciate the vibrancy and heritage of River Valley and the Singapore River.”

Adds Mr Cheng, “What’s even more meaningful for us is that this collaboration shines a light on the unique gifts of neurodivergent individuals and the role they can play in society. Wing Tai is glad to do our part towards fostering a more caring and inclusive community through this collaboration with Pathlight School.”

Ms Linda Kho, Senior Principal of Pathlight School, says, “We are grateful for opportunities that provide a platform for students with special needs to shine. Art is a powerful form of self expression that allows our students to express their unique perspectives. This collaboration with Wing Tai not only showcases their talents and builds their confidence, but it also motivates them to continue developing their artistic passion. By spotlighting their abilities, we also hope that there will be greater awareness and appreciation of the strengths of individuals on the autism spectrum, fostering a society that embraces and integrates the autism culture into our lives.”

Nestled in the bustling River Valley area, River Green offers an unparalleled blend of urban living and natural tranquility and is expected to be launched in the second half of 2025.

Solution to aging population – more babies or more immigrants

Singapore has a rapidly aging population. Next year we will be a “super aged” country with over one in five aged 65 years old or above. By 2030, one in four Singaporeans will be 65 or older. The two main factors behind an aging population are longer life expectancy and fewer births. An aging population... [read more]
