Developer Focus: Aurum Land

(This is a special feature by Aurum Land).

Incorporated in 1982, Aurum Land, a subsidiary of real estate and construction titan Woh Hup, has in the last decade started to gain greater market recognition.

Its recent achievements earned it a host of nominations at this year’s PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Singapore). For the second the time in the respected programme’s history, the independent judging panel crowned Aurum Land Best Boutique Developer (Singapore).

“Living proof of how sensitivity and passion for individuality can create stunning developments, Aurum Land (Pte) Ltd expresses a sense of life and beauty within spaces by capturing function, form, and design excellence with a technical expertise guided by innovative thinking on the possibilities of creative cohesion and connectivity,” the panel noted.

Aurum Land’s Recent Projects

Rows of early 19th-century colonial shophouses, such as those along Sophia Road, offer an insight into how much Singapore’s Mount Sophia neighbourhood would have looked 100 years ago. The black-and-white facades of these heritage shophouses inspired the design 1919, a brand-new residential development by Aurum Land.

The 75-unit development borrows heavily from the colonial era, both inside and out, and has encouraged other developers to look to Mount Sophia’s past when developing for its future. It was also a breakthrough project for Aurum Land.

Aurum Land also recently completed residential projects such as The Orient — another heritage-inspired property, located in the heart of Pasir Panjang — and upmarket The Asana, which strategically sits on Queen’s Road in District 10.

Upcoming developments, meanwhile, include the company’s biggest residential undertaking to date, The Hyde, and another Peranakan-influenced property, Nyon. The team has also branched out into the co-working and co-living sectors in recent years. Indeed, Aurum Land may have built its reputation around bringing the past to life, but its eye for upcoming market trends is no less impressive.

In addition to besting boutique developers in the country, Aurum Land also claimed two more trophies at the 9th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Singapore).

The developer triumphed in the category of Best Boutique Condo Development (High Density) for The Hyde. The panel of judges called the condo project “sleek, sophisticated, and sculptural.”

“The Hyde by Aurum Land crafts an elegantly private environment; rising up with a fully glazed façade and distinct sash-less windows to create a connection with the outdoors that complements an interesting aesthetic inspired by London’s Hyde Park pavilions, adding a creative edge,” said the panel of judges.

Aurum Land also received the Special Recognition in CSR, with judges rewarding its efforts at building homes in a typhoon-struck village in the Philippines; creating a youth centre in Thailand; and supporting National University of Singapore students for over 40 years. Aurum Land, through its parent company Woh Hup Holdings, has donated millions to education, the elderly, women’s welfare, the environment, and to aid disability in sports.
