Why I like it

I’ve always liked the idea of staying next to a river – hence my choice at River Place. It is now 20 years old, and I think most people would recognise it by its brown and white facade and rooftop tennis court by now (even if they don’t know it by name).

As an old development and leasehold one at that, it represents one of the lower entry prices (at least, psf wise) that occupies a significant location on the waterfront.

This unit is a sizeable 2,057 square feet townhouse, with 3 a total of 3 storeys (so you definitely lose some space to the number of stairs). That said, I do like the big windows and 2 of the 3 bedrooms will have a view towards the river as well.

The open terrace is also a nice area to entertain guests, although some might see that as further wasted space.

Tenure: 99 years
Size: 990 sqft
$PSF: $938.27
Developer: HDB
TOP: 2014

Why I like it

As far as prime HDB’s go, this 4 room HDB at Boon Tiong Road is definitely considered one. It is just a fully sheltered short walk to Tiong Bahru MRT, and was just completed in 2014 so it is still considered new. Let’s not forget Tiong Bahru Plaza is situated there as well, and has Golden Village for your movie needs and an NTUC Finest at the basement.

If you are looking for something more affordable, Tiong Bahru market and the entire hipster enclave is also just a short walk away.

Of course, the biggest draw of this HDB flat is really the interior design. It looks really modern, and the colour tones are attractive as well. For a younger couple looking for less hassle and are reluctant to wait for a BTO this would definitely be one of interest.

Why I like it

Having spent a good amount of time at the Dawson area, I’m definitely drawn to SkyTerrace@Dawson, not just for its location but for its really unique units as well.

Loft units are something you definitely don’t come across everyday in an HDB, and I’ve always loved a high ceiling in my living room, even though some people feel that it is wasted and unusable space.

With the high ceilings (and window) this unit feels really bright and is a world of difference in terms of the spacious feeling that you get as well. It was just completed in 2015 so this is as new as it gets for a resale HDB.

Why I like it

Out of the current crop of condos at Queenstown (the jury is still out on Stirling Residences), I definitely still like Commonwealth Towers the most. It is super sleek and I think would still look modern in time to come, and facilities wise it doesn’t fare too badly too.

This 3 bedroom unit at 904 square feet is definitely on the small side, and does come with an unusual layout, as the master bedroom is on the left of the hallway, instead of the end like it usually is placed.

You do get an enclosed kitchen here too, and for the most part, the interior design is nice, although some may lament the lack of colour.

Why I like it

This 4 room HDB flat at Strathmore is already 15 years old at this point, but it is still in good shape and its location (350m walk to Queenstown MRT) is still one of its major selling points. Of course, there are newer and nicer HDB’s in the area now, but this still represents a lower entry price if you are keen on this neck of the woods.

At 915 square feet, it is definitely not the biggest of spaces but the ID is certainly one of its selling points. The open plan kitchen is quite nice, and although white based, it is a departure from the other designs that you might usually see on the market.
